My name is Helen Wingstedt and I’d like to invite you to join me in creating an extra-ordinary Centre of Excellence, a Social Enterprise set in unspoilt countryside, a sanctuary that brings people and horses together in Friendship, Well Being and Fun, that provides fresh starts and new beginnings in life and learning for generations to come.
The Centre will offer horses and people rehabilitation, training, education, development and therapy separately and together in the process encouraging tolerance, understanding, compassion, trust, respect, responsibility and commitment. Opportunities will be available to people of all ages and levels of experience including children and adults with terminal illness, learning difficulties, social disadvantage and disability.
The UK Centre will be the first of three, the second in the USA, the third in Australia, all adhering to the working principles of what I now call ‘Equamigo’ - the mutual understanding, depth of relationship, intimacy and wellbeing that potentially exists when in balanced friendship with a horse.
Holly's Hope
Thousands of Thoroughbreds leave racing every year. Some go on to new homes as competition horses, some find their way to specialist charities that retrain and rehome but many of these horses, either injured or considered unsuitable for rehoming are sent for meat. It’s a sad fact that hundreds of these horses given the opportunity for time off, tlc and specialist emotional, mental and physical rehabilitation would actually make a full recovery, making great riding horses or companions.
Offering such horses a fresh start at the Centre serves many purposes that include providing people with valuable knowledge and experience of dealing with difficult behaviour and health issues, reducing the numbers being put to sleep, reducing the numbers being retired through injury and have the added benefit of learning being transferable to human society.
My passionate belief of this truth is something through which I’ve lived, borne of experience with one such horse called Holly; a brave, gentle, inspirationally strong Leader of every herd he entered who taught me most of what I know and literally helped hundreds of people who visited him. Holly died in April 2007, the Hope Programme, offering racehorses a chance to recover and humans the chance to expand their understanding of horses and remember what’s been forgotten is his legacy.
The Human-Horse Programme
The Programme offered by the Centre will be diverse and facilitate world class educational, developmental and therapeutic opportunities and experiences.
Human Educational and Developmental
People wanting to learn about horses would be offered:
Theraputic
The Therapeutic benefits of interacting with horses are well documented and the resident herd very experienced providers of opportunities that are often profound in nature and inspirational in result.

To date, the herd and I have provided hundreds of people the opportunity to experience the power of ‘Equamigo’ whether educational, developmental or therapeutic the results have been outstanding, fulfilling and humbling; people travelling from across the UK and Europe and from as far afield as Russia, Canada and Australia to discover what I already know.
GET INVOLVED
Today, World of Whispers is close to becoming a reality with an official launch date set for Spring 2010. The credibility and far reaching effectiveness of the work has been established, a suitable property has been identified, Team members and volunteers are arriving, the horses are in place, the visitors waiting and the racehorses queuing outside the gates. The groundwork has been completed and now we need your help.
The Pound Plan
After years of searching we have identified an amazing property with enormous potential that offers suitable opportunities for horses and humans alike. We need to raise the money that will enable the Social Enterprise to purchase this property and would like to ask you, a lover of horses, to donate just one pound to the World of Whispers Fund, turning the Vision into Action
Partners, Sponsors and Patrons
In addition, World of Whispers requires a higher profile, on-going Investment and the involvement of successful, entrepreneurial professionals to help us put the last pieces of the jigsaw in place.
